An Army Air Corps Veteran of WWII turned 100 years old on August 27th,2020. The local Veterans organizations in our area all turned out to recognize and honor Charlie’s service to his country. As Charlie sat on his red, white and blue ‘throne’ on our front porch, it seemed like the whole town drove by to congratulate and thank him. He received special certificates, the North Bend Drum Line marched by, The Patriot Guard Riders came, Point Man Ministries was here and the Pacific Coast Corvette Club flashed by. The Legend Radio station, 105.9 FM, with Roger W. Morgan, keep the airways alive with promotions for the surrounding communities. Charlie has spent some time with the SNF Rehab, Life Care Center of Coos Bay. They gifted Charlie with an awesome T-Shirt reading “It’s My 100th Birthday”. We all wore our masks and shields and were mind full of our Social Distancing. Charlie’s Daughter’s stayed close to him. You could not see his big smile but his eyes were bright and dancing. It was a wonderful day Charlie!
